This summer, the SCSN network continues to grow into a smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable digital ecosystem.
In May, the first release of 2025 was shared with service providers, introducing several promising innovations.
Introducing the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)
One of the most notable additions in this release is a new message type that enables the exchange of Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data. This marks an important step toward the Digital Product Passport (DPP). Organizations will soon be able to include CO₂ data per product in their SCSN message flows. This makes sustainability both measurable and operational, a key milestone in building a future-proof supply chain.
More efficient message flows
The release also includes optimizations in order-related message traffic. In dedicated sprint groups, we collaborated with service providers and manufacturing companies to improve the efficiency of existing message types. This release is truly developed for and by the network.
What to expect next?
After the summer, this release will be made widely available to all SCSN users. In the meantime, we are working closely with service providers on technical implementation and further preparations.
