Working Smarter with Data: How ICH BV Is Embracing Digitalization with SCSN
ICH BV began in 1997 as a specialist in pneumatics and valve technology. What started as a technical wholesaler has since grown into a manufacturer of industrial components and customer-specific solutions. With its own assembly department, a wide product range, and a 24/7 accessible webshop, the company is known for its customer-focused approach and innovative strength. Managing Director Bryan Koops explains how digitalization and the Smart Connected Supplier Network (SCSN) contribute to more efficient processes and stronger customer relationships.
From Wholesaler to Manufacturer
“Our strength lies in combining technical expertise with smart automation,” says Bryan. “We started with sales, but now we also manufacture standard products and offer assembly services. It’s all about simplifying the ordering process for our customers.”
This customer-centric vision led early on to the development of a webshop and the digitalization of internal processes. “We want customers to be able to order quickly and without errors. That’s why we’re always looking for platforms that help us do that — and SCSN fits perfectly.”
SCSN as a Logical Step
ICH BV was introduced to SCSN through a customer. “We immediately saw the benefits,” says Bryan. “We now use it for order messages, confirmations, invoicing, and packing slips. When the data is accurate, it saves a lot of time and prevents errors. There’s less manual work, so we can focus on the technical side instead of administration.”
The transition to SCSN went smoothly thanks to support from their service provider. “We had been looking for ways to further digitalize. After a clear presentation of SCSN, we were convinced. Our service provider made the process very accessible, so we were able to get started quickly.”
Proactive Customer Engagement
Although only 10% of ICH BV’s customers and suppliers are currently connected to SCSN, Bryan sees great potential. “We have 17,000 customers. If we can work with 80% of them via SCSN, we can focus even more on process control and technical support.”
That’s why ICH BV actively approaches customers to connect via SCSN. “We can set up new connections within a day. With a GLN code and a master data comparison, we can get started right away.”
Digitalization as a Necessity
According to Bryan, digitalization is no longer a luxury — it’s a necessity. “With an aging population and declining birth rates in Europe, we need to work smarter. Automation helps address labor shortages. If you don’t digitalize now, you’ll miss the boat.”
His advice to other companies: “Move away from Excel and PDFs. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Find a technically strong service provider who keeps it simple for you. Digitalization isn’t just more efficient — it also opens doors to new markets. We’re already seeing interest from Italy and Germany.”
Vision for the Future: A Connected Europe
Bryan is thinking beyond the Netherlands. “SCSN offers the opportunity to share data transparently across Europe. Imagine a manufacturer delivering a product to the other side of the continent within two days. That’s the future we’re building toward.”
